magis proust outdoor
Rotational molded polyethylene
Made in Italy by Magis
“As far as I am concerned, it is not design that interests me: I use design not as a means to an end, but in order to carry out my natural vital role, which is to produce images.” – Alessandro Mendini
Proust was originally created in 1978 for the Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara. It was immediately recognized as an icon of twentieth century design and one of the most renowned and essential reference points in the quest for form and aesthetic perfection. Mendini used a combination of a mock-antique armchair with a detail from a painting of a garden by French painter Signac. Over the decades it has been reproduced in many different variations including ceramic and bronze versions. Now available in sturdy and durable polyethylene in a mixture of old world aesthetics and new world materials.
The Magis Proust is made from rotational-molded polyethylene. The armchair is available in orange, red, blue, white, black and two variations of the original dotted multi-color pattern, is weatherproof and, as such, is suitable for outdoor use.
